A 29-year-old woman, Deepa Nayak, passed away nearly 34 hours post a Caesarean delivery at Government Zanana Hospital in Sikar. Her family accused medical negligence, leading to a protest outside Shri Kalyan Government Hospital’s mortuary. Deepa gave birth to a baby girl on July 21 and her husband claimed her health worsened after an injection was administered by a nursing staff member the next day.
Deepa’s husband, Lalchand Nayak, from Raipura, mentioned that she was admitted to the hospital on July 20 due to labor pains. Following the Caesarean delivery on July 21 at around 11 am, she was moved to the general ward. Lalchand alleged that on July 22, around 1:30 pm, an injection given to Deepa caused breathing issues and body swelling, with the family requesting timely doctor intervention.
The family stated that Deepa’s condition deteriorated significantly by 3 pm but she was only referred to Jaipur between 8 pm and 8:30 pm, hours later. While en route to Jaipur, the ambulance turned back near Bajor and returned to Shri Kalyan Government Hospital in Sikar, where Deepa was pronounced dead.
