A 21-year-old woman, critically injured during a protest in Delhi, has shown significant improvement and has been removed from ventilator support at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital. The hospital confirmed that she is now breathing independently after being successfully extubated. Her MRI results for the brain and spine are normal, and she is conscious and responsive.
The decision to take her off ventilator support was made due to her improving clinical condition. The hospital mentioned that she has been steadily progressing since the start of her treatment and is under close medical supervision. She is currently the sole patient at RML Hospital related to the incident.
The woman was injured during a protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar. The protest turned chaotic during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march, leading to clashes with the police. The demonstrators were demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged exam irregularities, including the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.
Delhi Police reported injuries to over 118 police personnel and about 60 protesters during the clashes. Additionally, more than 20 police vehicles were damaged in the incident.
