A woman devotee lost her life in a tragic incident at Khallari Mata Temple in Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, when a ropeway trolley suddenly broke, causing it to crash to the ground. Sixteen other devotees sustained injuries during the mishap, attributed to a cable failure as worshippers were returning from prayers. The impact of the trolley hitting the hillside rock resulted in severe injuries, with four critically wounded individuals being referred to Raipur for specialized treatment, while others were taken to the Bagbahara Community Health Centre.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos as the trolley lost control mid-journey and descended into the rocky slope below. The temple premises were filled with cries and confusion as fellow devotees rushed to aid the injured. The police, along with locals, promptly initiated rescue operations, using private vehicles to transport victims to hospitals.
The sudden tragedy left a large crowd of worshippers in shock, transforming what was meant to be a day of devotion into one overshadowed by grief and fear. Among those injured were children and elderly individuals. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed deep sorrow over the incident, labeling it as “extremely tragic and distressing.” He extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength to help them cope with the loss.
In a social media post, CM Sai expressed deep sadness over the devotee’s loss of life in the accident and offered prayers for the departed soul to find peace. He also wished for the swift recovery of all injured devotees. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure the best medical care for the victims and announced a thorough inquiry into the incident. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against those accountable for the cable failure, underscoring the importance of safety in public facilities.
