The Manipur government and the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi to implement Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 in the state. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, present at the signing ceremony, emphasized that JJM 2.0 marks a strategic shift in the rural drinking water program towards sustainable service delivery.
Singh highlighted the key aspects of JJM 2.0, including assured service delivery, a digital framework named Sujalam Bharat, clear operation and maintenance policies, measures for source sustainability, reform-linked funding, and community ownership. He noted that these features aim to elevate the mission from a mere government initiative to a crucial tool for realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
In a Facebook post, Singh further emphasized the transformative nature of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, focusing on sustainable drinking water service delivery to rural households. He lauded the mission’s emphasis on source sustainability, community involvement, robust operation and maintenance systems, and digital governance, foreseeing its pivotal role in advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
