In a tragic incident in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district, a woman named Nakka Bharati (24) poisoned her two young sons, Tejesh Reddy (6) and Hemanatha Nagi Reddy (4), before taking her own life at their home in Vittamrajupalli village, Vinukonda mandal. The police suspect that Bharati served poisoned food to her sons on Monday night before hanging herself. The bodies were discovered on Tuesday morning, prompting the police to conduct postmortem examinations.
The police investigation revealed that family disputes, particularly related to Bharati’s husband Sunil Reddy, who works as a milk van driver, may have been a contributing factor to the tragic incident. Allegedly, Sunil Reddy’s vices and neglect of the family had caused frequent conflicts between the couple. This case is part of a series of similar incidents in Telugu states where family disputes have been identified as a common underlying cause.
Earlier incidents in the region include a mother in Srikakulam district who slit her daughters’ throats and attempted suicide, as well as a woman in Telangana’s Vikarabad district who killed her children before taking her own life due to severe depression following a domestic dispute. The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations into the recent tragedy in Palnadu district.
