A woman in Bengaluru has reported to the police that a luxury Rado wristwatch worth Rs 1.80 lakh and a half-sleeve sweater, cherished as one of her last memories of her deceased father, were stolen while he was hospitalized. The Govindarajanagar police have launched an investigation after registering an FIR related to the incident.
The emotional daughter, Anita Ramaiah, shared a video expressing that the sentimental value of the items surpasses their monetary worth as they were linked to memories of her father. Her father, K. Ramaiah, a social worker, had collapsed due to health issues and passed away while wearing the watch and sweater.
Anita recounted that the family faced challenges when a hospital initially declined to provide first aid to her father, leading them to rush him to another hospital where he later succumbed. The family was shocked to discover the disappearance of the watch and sweater following his demise.
Anita emphasized the deep emotional connection she had with her father’s watch, which she believes holds significant sentimental value. Despite lodging a complaint with the police, the family expressed dissatisfaction with the delayed registration of the FIR, which was eventually processed.
The police have invoked Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown individuals in response to the reported theft. Anita further detailed her interactions with the hospital authorities, including requests for an internal investigation and access to CCTV footage in a bid to locate the missing items.
The ongoing investigation by the Govindarajanagar police involves questioning the hospital staff regarding the allegations raised by Anita, who remains hopeful of recovering her father’s watch, underscoring the emotional significance of the lost item.
