A woman threw ink-like liquid at Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke while he was addressing supporters at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The incident caused a brief disruption, leading to commotion as supporters rushed towards the stage after the ink was thrown at Dipke. The woman’s identity and the motive behind the incident are yet to be determined, with police expected to investigate further.
The disruption occurred shortly after Dipke announced an indefinite hunger strike in protest against the removal of climate activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site. The announcement had attracted supporters to the gathering, where the incident took place. The CJP has been protesting at Jantar Mantar since June 6, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak case.
Meanwhile, Sonam Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike for 21 days at Jantar Mantar, was moved to a hospital after his health deteriorated. This action was taken in compliance with the Delhi High Court’s directives and medical advice. Police personnel arrived at the protest site in the morning and transferred Wangchuk to the hospital amidst slogans and protests by CJP activists and the public present.
Following Wangchuk’s transfer, Dipke addressed the gathering, affirming that the protest would persist and accusing the police of forcibly removing Wangchuk. He also declared the initiation of his own hunger strike. It was during this address that the woman emerged from the supporters and threw ink at the CJP founder.
