A woman trainee IPS officer at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad has accused her batchmate, Uday Krishna Reddy, of sexual harassment. The officer alleged that Reddy harassed, physically assaulted, and blackmailed her over a three-week period. The complaint, lodged on July 18, detailed incidents of abusive messages, criminal intimidation, and the unauthorized recording and sharing of private videos.
The complainant reported that the harassment began on June 23 through sexually abusive messages on WhatsApp. She also mentioned instances where Reddy made derogatory remarks about her in front of other trainees and falsely accused her of inappropriate relationships. Additionally, she claimed that Reddy intimidated her into revealing personal messages by coercing her to disclose her phone’s password.
Allegations include Reddy recording a private video of the officer without consent and sending it to her husband as a form of blackmail. The complainant further stated that Reddy physically assaulted her, attempted to restrain her, and made inappropriate advances. Telangana Rakshana Sena, led by K. Kavitha, criticized the incident, labeling it as a failure of the institution and emphasizing the importance of trust in law enforcement training.
