Women beneficiaries in Delhi expressed appreciation for the state government’s introduction of various women-focused programs. These initiatives include the revamped Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, the Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar scheme, and the Saheli Pink Smart Card. A beneficiary of the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana thanked Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for the support, expressing a desire to pursue studies and assist her family.
Another beneficiary, benefiting from the Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar scheme, shared plans to utilize the support for education and to venture into an e-commerce business. The launch event for these schemes took place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, with President Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in attendance. Also present were Lt Governor V.K. Saxena, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and MLA Pankaj Singh.
Under the Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar scheme, an amount of Rs 100 crore was directly transferred to the bank accounts of over 40,000 girls, marking a significant direct benefit transfer in Delhi for female beneficiaries. These programs are part of the expanded Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, which offers increased financial aid at crucial educational stages.
President Murmu expressed confidence that these schemes would empower the women of Delhi, contributing to the city’s prosperity. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta termed the occasion as historic, emphasizing the importance of supporting women from birth to self-reliance. The government’s vision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on women empowerment, emphasizing women as key contributors to nation-building.
The newly introduced Saheli Pink Smart Card aims to provide free bus travel for women, enhancing their access to education, employment, and public spaces. These new measures, along with existing welfare programs like free LPG cylinder distribution during festivals, underscore the government’s commitment to women’s social security and financial independence.
