Women voters have once again surpassed men in Manipur’s draft electoral rolls, recently released after the Special Intensive Revision. The Chief Electoral Officer stated that Manipur has a total of 19,34,399 registered voters, with 9,93,660 women, 9,40,446 men, and 293 third-gender electors.
The gender ratio in the draft electoral rolls stands at 1,057, which is notably higher than the national average. Among the newly enrolled voters, 20,442 fall in the 18-19 age group according to the draft electoral rolls.
A total of 1,58,677 electors, constituting 7.58% of the electorate, have been excluded after the revision process for various reasons. These include deaths of 43,000 electors, 34,740 untraceable or absent electors, 72,473 electors who had permanently shifted, and other causes.
With the addition of 85 new polling stations, Manipur now has a total of 3,041 polling stations. Following the claims and objections process, the final electoral rolls are scheduled for publication on September 6.
