Several women from the Jeevika self-help group program protested in Patna, alleging that they have not received the Rs 10,000 assistance promised under the Bihar government’s Chief Minister’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Scheme.
The protesters, hailing from the Sultanganj block of Bhagalpur district, gathered outside the Janata Dal (United) office, demanding the immediate release of the pending amount. They claimed to have followed the application process but have not seen the promised funds in their bank accounts despite months passing.
The protesting Jeevika members accused officials of unfair treatment and even filing cases against some members instead of addressing their concerns. They called upon Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary to intervene and ensure justice for them.
The women insisted on the immediate release of the pending Rs 10,000 installment and sought strict action against officials allegedly responsible for the delays and harassment. They highlighted that the government had pledged the financial support before the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections to aid women in employment and entrepreneurship but alleged a change in approach post-elections, causing delays and uncertainty.
