The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 matches set for January 14 and 15 at Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will take place without spectators. This decision is due to the elections for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the state. However, spectators will be allowed for the Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru game on January 16.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) mentioned that the matches on January 14 and 15 will be behind closed doors. Spectators can enter the stadium from January 16 onwards for all subsequent matches. Media accredited for TATA WPL 2026 will have access on January 14 and 15.
The Indian cricket board decided to hold two upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 matches behind closed doors due to the elections. Security personnel will be occupied with election duties on January 14 and 15, making crowd management challenging. Ticket sales for the Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore game were initiated after formal announcements by the BCCI.
The WPL fixture list was unveiled on November 29 last year, aligning with the election schedule released on December 15. Organizers were promptly informed about the election dates, ensuring necessary arrangements were made.
