Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi emphasized that ensuring women’s safety at work goes beyond a legal obligation, reflecting the nation’s commitment to justice and equality. She highlighted the significant progress in this area, with 1.48 lakh institutions registered on the SHe-Box portal and a notable increase in female labor force participation from 23% to 42% in the last six years.
The Minister reiterated the government’s focus on women’s dignity, security, and economic empowerment, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Union Minister of State Savitri Thakur stressed that workplace safety is a fundamental right, pointing out the various initiatives that have enhanced women’s economic participation, such as the rise in labor force involvement and targeted financial support programs.
Member of Parliament Sudhanshu Trivedi echoed the importance of women’s safety at work in upholding India’s commitment to equality and justice. He highlighted key legislative measures like the PoSH Act and the SHe-Box portal that promote transparency and accountability across sectors. The event also featured informative sessions on the role of new Labor Codes in fostering safe work environments and showcased thematic films advocating for safe workplaces and women’s economic empowerment.
Women and Child Development Secretary Anil Malik commended the progress achieved through the SHe-Box initiative, noting the extensive coverage with over 1.5 lakh workplaces involved and active Local Committees nationwide. However, he emphasized the need for sustained efforts to ensure comprehensive protection, especially for the significant number of women engaged in the informal sector.
