The Wrestling Federation of India has finalized the U15 and U20 teams for the upcoming Asian Wrestling Championships in Pattaya, Thailand. Selection trials at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi determined the squads across men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s wrestling categories. WFI President Sanjay Singh emphasized the federation’s commitment to developing young talent for the future.
The selected athletes, chosen from a pool of wrestlers representing various states and training centers, will undergo a national preparatory camp to enhance their technical and physical capabilities. The focus remains on nurturing a strong talent pipeline within the Indian wrestling community. The upcoming phase aims to prepare the athletes for competitive performances at the continental championships in Pattaya.
Promising wrestlers, including Parveen, Muska, Kajal, Savita, and Mansi Lather among others, secured spots in the U20 women’s division. In the U15 girls’ category, standout performers like Samruddhi Satish, Gauri Satish, Vinakshi, and Disha Shokeen earned their places. The men’s freestyle selections also featured a mix of established junior talent and emerging prospects across different weight categories.
The U20 Greco-Roman squad will be led by wrestlers such as Neeraj Patel, Aaryan Malik, Dheeraj Kumar Malik, Vikash Dalal, and Dishant. Notable names in the U15 Greco-Roman team include Rohit Ashok Mali, Paryas Dhounchak, Darpan Raju Chaudhari, and Kushal Kajal. The selected wrestlers will now convene for a mandatory national coaching camp to undergo intensive training and technical refinement before heading to Pattaya for the championships.
