More than 25,000 individuals are set to take part in a yoga event on the Krishna River West bypass road in Amaravati on June 21 to commemorate International Yoga Day, as announced by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The state will kick off the Yoga Andhra 2026 campaign from June 7 to June 20, aiming to involve 1 crore people in yoga activities this year.
Naidu emphasized the importance of making yoga a daily practice in every household, envisioning it as a potent movement for fostering a healthy Andhra Pradesh. He highlighted the integration of yoga into educational institutions to nurture a healthier and robust generation for the future. The Chief Minister underscored yoga’s significance as a holistic wellness practice that enhances physical fitness, mental tranquility, and spiritual development.
Efforts are underway to implement district-wise themes to encourage participation from various societal segments, such as police personnel in the NTR district and farmers in the Konaseema district. Additionally, special yoga sessions will be conducted at 56 prominent tourist spots across the state to promote Yoga Tourism, blending wellness with tourism promotion. Yoga is a pivotal element of the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision, aiming to enhance public health outcomes in the state in the long run.
