Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for his recent comments on Ayodhya, questioning the opposition leader’s commitment to the city’s development. Adityanath’s remarks followed Yadav’s pledge to transform Ayodhya into a sacred city if his party comes to power. The Chief Minister highlighted the BJP government’s efforts in enhancing Ayodhya’s global significance.
Adityanath, speaking at a public event in Hathras, challenged the Samajwadi Party’s track record during its governance and emphasized the city’s revival under the current administration. He accused the SP of hindering Hindu religious practices in the past, citing instances like restrictions on Krishna Janmashtami celebrations and the Kanwar Yatra. Adityanath credited the city’s transformation to the dedication of Ram devotees and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
The Chief Minister further criticized the SP government for allegedly neglecting religious infrastructure and favoring graveyards over temples. He contrasted the renovation of temples in Hathras under the BJP rule with the policies of the previous administration. Adityanath asserted that Ayodhya’s religious identity had been reinforced under the present government and invited opposition leaders to witness the city’s progress firsthand.
Adityanath extended his criticism to other pilgrimage sites like Mathura and Vrindavan, urging the opposition to support the recognition of Lord Krishna’s birthplace. He emphasized his government’s focus on improving facilities for pilgrims visiting Ayodhya, Mathura, and Varanasi to boost spiritual tourism and regional development. The Chief Minister accused the Samajwadi Party of lacking a constructive development agenda and engaging in appeasement politics.
