Book proposals by 43 young authors under 30 were chosen nationwide in 22 Indian languages for the Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors (PM-YUVA 3.0). The initiative, in line with the National Education Policy 2020, aims to inspire young writers to contribute to the nation’s progress.
Implemented by the National Book Trust, India, under the Ministry of Education, the scheme supports inclusive literary growth. Among the 43 selected authors, 19 are women and 24 are men, representing a diverse range of languages and perspectives. Each author will receive mentorship for six months, a monthly scholarship of Rs 50,000, and a 10% lifetime royalty on their published work.
The selected manuscripts, focusing on themes like the Indian Diaspora’s role in nation-building and India’s knowledge systems, will be developed into non-fiction books. These works cover various aspects of India’s history, culture, science, governance, and global interactions. A National Camp for the authors will be held during the New Delhi World Book Fair in January 2026.
The first batch of books from PM-YUVA 3.0 is set for publication next year, aiming to cultivate a new wave of writers to represent Indian literature globally.
