The brutal murder of a young woman, believed to be around 25 years old, in Cuddalore has stirred political backlash. Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin criticized the Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Udhayanidhi expressed deep shock over the incident and highlighted the rising cases of murders, robberies, and sexual violence, questioning the effectiveness of law enforcement in Tamil Nadu.
Targeting the ruling government, Udhayanidhi accused the current administration of failing to address the escalating crime rate since assuming power. He specifically mentioned the frequent occurrences of murder, robbery, and sexual violence, labeling the government as the “#SofaModelGovernment.” The Opposition leader also criticized Chief Minister Vijay for allegedly not fulfilling his pre-election promises related to maintaining law and order in the state.
Expressing concerns about women’s safety measures, Udhayanidhi raised doubts regarding the status of the proposed “Singappen Force,” a special initiative aimed at enhancing women’s security. He questioned the sudden cancellation of the initiative’s launch event and demanded clarity on whether the program had been postponed or scrapped entirely. Udhayanidhi emphasized the urgency of prioritizing public safety and law enforcement in Tamil Nadu without delay.
