Tension arose in Chinnayyanapalya village near Bengaluru when a youth, identified as Somashekhar, climbed a high-tension electric pole due to a love failure incident. Somashekhar, who had been in a relationship for three years, was rejected by the woman he loved, leading to the dramatic incident. Eyewitnesses reported that he demanded the woman’s presence before descending.
Anekal police and a fire and rescue team intervened to persuade Somashekhar to come down safely. Despite initial reluctance, efforts are ongoing to ensure his safe return to the ground. To prevent any mishap due to high-voltage electricity, the power supply to the pole was disconnected as a precautionary measure.
In a tragic reminder, a similar incident occurred in 2025 when a man from Kollegal taluk ended his life by holding onto a high-tension electric line. The man, Masana Shetty, faced difficulties in finding a suitable alliance despite efforts to change his habits. His tragic end serves as a cautionary tale of the consequences of extreme actions in the face of personal challenges.
