New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin on Tuesday said India’s youth are aware of both their rights and duties, and that their positive outlook, energy, and commitment to nation-building are a source of national pride.
Addressing a ‘Yuva Samvad’ programme organised by the BJP Yuva Morcha with students pursuing higher education in Visakhapatnam, Nabin said the youth are the most powerful force in shaping the future of the country.
During the interaction, Nabin responded to students’ questions on a range of issues. He emphasised the need to channel the energy, talent and intellectual potential of young Indians in the right direction.
He said the youth’s immense energy and capabilities could take the country to new heights if directed toward constructive, nation-building activities.
“The success of the youth should become a matter of pride not only for their families, but also for society, Andhra Pradesh and the entire country,” Nabin said, stressing that the foundation of the India of 2047 would have to be laid by the young generation of today.
Distinguishing between criticism and creation, the BJP president said it was easy to criticise or dismantle an existing system, but much harder to build something new.
He urged the youth to choose “creation over destruction, solutions over criticism, and positive thinking over despair”.
Nabin also underlined the importance of giving young people greater exposure to governance and administration through internships and leadership programmes.
He said opportunities to work with local public representatives and legislators could help students understand how government institutions function and how policies are implemented.
“Participation in policymaking means becoming a part of the decision-making process,” he said.
Indian youth making global mark
The BJP president said Indian youth are already making their presence felt in leading institutions and research centres worldwide.
He noted that there was a time when young Indians primarily went abroad in search of better opportunities, but the situation has changed significantly.
Today, he said, Indian youth can create institutions of global standing and contribute to cutting-edge research and innovation.
Nabin highlighted the rapid expansion of India’s startup ecosystem, saying young entrepreneurs are increasingly moving beyond the traditional role of job seekers to become job creators.
He pointed to new opportunities in sectors including manufacturing, mobile phone production, defence equipment, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and data centres.
He also called upon Indian entrepreneurs, researchers and professionals living abroad to consider returning to the country and becoming partners in India’s development journey.
AI set to transform education
Speaking about the impact of technology on education, Nabin said Artificial Intelligence (AI) is likely to bring significant changes to the sector in the coming years.
He said AI could enable personalised learning methods based on the capabilities, requirements, and learning pace of individual students.
Students preparing for competitive examinations such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), he said, should learn to use technology effectively.
The use of AI-based tools in education is expected to increase further, he added, making technological literacy an important component of learning.
Youth urged to fact-check social media content
Nabin also cautioned students about the growing spread of misinformation and manipulated content on social media.
He said social media has become an integral part of young people’s lives, but not every piece of information encountered online should be automatically considered true.
With morphed images, misinformation and AI-generated fake content spreading rapidly, he urged the youth to develop the habit of verifying and fact-checking information before accepting or sharing it.
He said social media could become a powerful instrument for positive social change if young people used it to disseminate constructive information and promote ideas beneficial to society.
While discussing rights, Nabin reminded the youth to remain conscious of their duties and responsibilities towards the country and society.
At the conclusion of the programme, the BJP president held an informal interaction with the students.
