Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized the state government for allegedly harming the blue economy by not handing over fishing harbours to fishermen. He specifically mentioned the Juvveladinne fishing harbour in Nellore district, questioning why it was not given to the fishermen. Instead, he accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of allocating the land to a private defense company, impacting the livelihoods of fishermen.
Jagan Mohan Reddy assured the fishermen that if his party comes to power, they would prioritize dedicating all harbours to the fishermen to enhance the blue economy. He highlighted the efforts of the YSRCP government in planning ports and fishing harbours, including the completion of Juvveladinne. The former Chief Minister criticized the current government for allegedly favoring commercial interests over the welfare of fishermen.
He pledged to rectify the situation by providing mechanized boats at a substantial subsidy to support fishermen and their families. Jagan Mohan Reddy accused Chandrababu Naidu of neglecting the needs of fishermen and prioritizing a commercial agenda. He also raised concerns about the incomplete works on certain ports, indicating a lack of attention to the fishing community’s requirements.
