Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for renewing FCRA permissions for the Rural Development Trust (RDT). This renewal, under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, ensures the continuity of RDT’s essential services in education, healthcare, environment, and social development in the undivided Anantapur district, benefiting the underprivileged.
YSR Congress Party leader criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for trying to take credit for the renewal after a significant delay. He highlighted that the restoration of permissions, which were suspended since April 21, 2025, was a result of public pressure and collective efforts, not due to any proactive measures by the ruling leadership.
The delay in renewing permissions led to protests by people, YSRCP, and civil society groups. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy emphasized that portraying the renewal as the government’s initiative is misleading and amounts to mere publicity tactics.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, on the other hand, acknowledged the Central Government’s intervention in resolving the foreign funding issue for RDT. He appreciated Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Central Government for enabling the smooth flow of funds to RDT, which caters to the needs of the poor across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
