The YSR Congress Party has accused the TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh of misleading the state Assembly through Governor S. Abdul Nazeer’s speech. YSRCP legislators claimed that the Governor’s address was filled with falsehoods, inflated numbers, baseless allegations, and deliberate distortions.
MLA Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar likened the Governor’s speech to a collection of “yellow media” stories, referring to pro-TDP media outlets. Some YSRCP MLAs and MLCs criticized the coalition government for not recognizing the party as the main opposition, alleging that the coalition feared its failures being exposed.
Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other YSRCP members, present during the Governor’s speech, protested by raising slogans against the government before leaving the House. MLA Chandrasekhar criticized the Chandrababu Naidu government for lacking substance and being apprehensive about facing scrutiny on public issues.
Chandrasekhar emphasized that despite having 164 members, the coalition government was unable to address the concerns raised by the 11 YSRCP MLAs, leading to the denial of opposition status to YSRCP. He expressed readiness to participate in the Assembly if granted the Leader of Opposition status and urged the Governor to intervene.
The YSRCP legislators highlighted the state’s escalating debt under the current government, amounting to approximately Rs 3.27 lakh crore in 20 months. They criticized the government for focusing on real estate ventures in Amaravati and land allocations in Visakhapatnam instead of genuine development, contrasting it with the previous YSRCP government’s welfare and development initiatives.
MLC Sipai Subramanyam accused the coalition government of reneging on election promises and avoiding accountability by withholding the main opposition status from YSRCP. He criticized the government for allegedly deceiving the public under the guise of public-private partnerships (PPP). MLC T. Madhava Rao demanded transparency regarding the massive borrowing of Rs 3.2 lakh crore in a short period and affirmed YSRCP’s commitment to questioning the government in the legislative Council.
