Opposition YSR Congress Party persisted in disrupting the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council for the second consecutive week, pressing for a debate on the supply of ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) by Indapur Dairy and Milk Products Limited. The party alleges connections between Indapur Dairy and Heritage Foods, owned by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s family.
YSRCP members, like the previous week, raised an adjournment motion on Monday to prioritize discussion on the Indapur-Heritage issue, but Council Chairman Koyye Moshenu Raju dismissed their request. Despite the protests, the Chairman proceeded with the question hour, leading to the Council’s adjournment without conducting any business.
The YSRCP has been attempting to address the issue since the previous week, citing concerns over alleged irregularities in the ghee procurement process for TTD and the pricing discrepancies linked to Heritage Foods and Indapur Dairy. Leader of Opposition Botsa Satyanarayana accused the companies of inflating ghee prices, claiming a significant increase from Rs 320 to Rs 700 per kg.
Minister for Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh assured that details regarding Tirupati laddu adulteration would be presented in the Assembly on Tuesday. He criticized the YSRCP’s boycott of the Assembly, emphasizing the responsibility of MLAs to attend sessions. Lokesh condemned the use of religious imagery in protests within the Legislature, calling it objectionable.
