YSR Congress Party leaders have reiterated their commitment to provide Rs 1 crore in compensation to each family of the six fishermen who tragically lost their lives in the Visakhapatnam fishing boat incident. Additionally, survivor Chinna, who lost his means of livelihood in the accident, will be given a new fishing boat.
The party distributed Rs 49 lakh in financial aid, with Rs 7 lakh allocated to each of the seven affected families, including Chinna. YSRCP’s president and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy personally signed the cheques to ensure the assistance reached those in need.
Criticism was directed at the government for the delayed rescue efforts, with YSRCP leaders stating that prompt action could have saved the fishermen. They highlighted the party’s commitment to supporting the affected families and ensuring they receive the promised compensation. The leaders also emphasized the welfare initiatives for fishermen introduced during the previous YSRCP government.
In a separate incident, the YSRCP extended financial aid of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Dalit youth Kranti Kumar, who tragically took his own life following alleged police harassment. The party leaders announced full responsibility for the education of Kranti Kumar’s children and free medical treatment for his ailing son, in addition to providing financial assistance to the family.
