The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has criticized the Andhra Pradesh coalition government for allegedly targeting social media activists who criticize its governance failures. Former minister Ambati Rambabu expressed support for these activists, regardless of their political affiliations. He highlighted cases involving YouTuber influencers like KVR and Raavan, accusing the government of unjustly pursuing legal actions against them.
Rambabu cited the example of Prashna Raavan, alleging that the government went to great lengths to detain him, even changing the charges to secure his imprisonment. He criticized the government for misusing the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) against individuals for political reasons. Additionally, he condemned the coalition for pressuring law enforcement to hand over accused individuals to political cadres.
The YSRCP leader accused the government of unfairly targeting dissenting voices and manipulating the legal system to silence critics. He mentioned the cases of other social media influencers like KVR, who faced similar treatment. Rambabu denounced the government’s tactics as undemocratic and vowed to take action against the alleged harassment of journalists and activists.
