Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is gearing up for his first coaching role in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he joins the Delhi Capitals support staff for the 2027 season. Yuvraj, a key player in India’s World Cup victories in 2007 and 2011, has been mentoring young cricketers like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and others in recent years.
After retiring in 2019, Yuvraj had not officially coached any team until now. Reports suggest that he will be part of a new support staff under the leadership of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, as the JSW Group takes over the IPL franchise for the next two years. Ganguly, who also serves as the President of Cricket Association of Bengal, will play a significant role in the team’s management.
Delhi Capitals, co-owned by GMR and JSW, have a tradition of changing their management every two years. In the previous seasons, under different leadership, the team faced mixed results in the IPL. With Yuvraj’s inclusion in the coaching set-up, the team aims to enhance its performance and clinch their first IPL title in the upcoming season.
