Veteran actress Zeenat Aman, known as the Queen of Instagram, recently reminisced about her iconic song ‘Dum Maro Dum’. In a post on Instagram, she shared a clip from the song where her character is portrayed under the influence of marijuana. Aman revealed that the song was originally intended to be sung by Lata Mangeshkar, sister of Asha Bhosle, a renowned singer.
Aman expressed nostalgia, stating, “Oh to be 19 and ambitious and experimental and on the brink of your big break!” She recalled the shooting of ‘Dum Maro Dum’ and its association with Asha Bhosle. The actress highlighted that the song was initially planned as a duet between Lata Mangeshkar and Usha Uthup, but RD Burman decided on Asha Bhosle’s voice for the track.
Coincidentally, Aman’s post coincided with April 20, a day celebrated in cannabis culture. ‘Dum Maro Dum’ has achieved a cult status, shedding light on the negative impacts of marijuana on the youth. Fans were encouraged to share their own stories related to the song in the comments, reflecting their connection to Aman’s work in Bollywood.
