Veteran actress Zeenat Aman has appealed to the Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, to prioritize addressing the ecological destruction in the region. Her plea follows the recent observation of Olive Ridley turtles hatching on a Goan beach. Aman shared her experience on social media, highlighting the significance of the turtles’ birth and the challenges they face in their journey to adulthood.
The Goa forest department played a crucial role in assisting the newborn turtles as they embarked on their instinctive journey towards the sea. Aman expressed concern over the low survival rate of these hatchlings, emphasizing the threats they encounter, including pollution, beach erosion, and other environmental hazards. She underscored the importance of acknowledging the interconnectedness between human actions and the natural world.
Reflecting on the contrast between the struggles of baby turtles and human suffering, Aman emphasized the need to preserve compassion and wonder towards nature. She urged the Goa CM to address the ecological issues plaguing the region, particularly the contamination of waters, making them unsuitable for recreational activities like swimming and fishing. Aman’s appeal aims to draw attention to the urgent need for environmental conservation efforts in Goa.
