Zimbabwe has appointed Richard Ngarava as the Test captain for the first time, leading a 15-member squad against Bangladesh in a one-off Test starting this Sunday at the Harare Sports Club. Ngarava, a left-arm pacer, takes on the leadership role following his significant contribution to Zimbabwe’s recent Test victory over Afghanistan, where he led the attack with a five-wicket haul.

The squad for the upcoming Test includes familiar faces from the victorious side against Afghanistan, such as Ben Curran and Brad Evans, alongside five players making a comeback. Notable returnees like Innocent Kaia, Graeme Cremer, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wessly Madhevere, and Newman Nyamhuri have earned their spots through impressive performances in domestic and representative cricket.

Experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza will be absent from the squad as he fulfills his county commitments with Worcestershire in England. The Test against Bangladesh reignites the recent rivalry between the two teams, with Zimbabwe aiming to build on their last Test success and kick off the new season with a victory on home turf.
