Zimbabwe women’s cricket team faces a setback as opener Kelis Ndhlovu will miss the final match against New Zealand due to a concussion sustained during the second ODI. Ndhlovu, who briefly lost consciousness after being hit on the head by a delivery, is under medical care and recovering. Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed the concussion but stated there were no serious complications, with no skull fracture detected.
The incident occurred during the seventh over of Zimbabwe’s innings when Ndhlovu, despite wearing a helmet, was struck by a bouncer from New Zealand’s Bree Illing. The impact led to her immediate collapse, requiring urgent medical attention and hospitalization. Tendai Makusha replaced Ndhlovu as the concussion substitute.
New Zealand secured an eight-wicket victory in the match, with Amelia Kerr’s exceptional performance yielding seven wickets. The hosts now lead the ODI series 2-0 after already winning the T20I series 3-0. The final match is set for Wednesday, with New Zealand aiming to maintain their dominance.
