Food delivery platform Zomato has raised its platform fee by 19.2% or Rs 2.40 per order, as per the latest billing details on its app. The platform fee now stands at Rs 14.90 per order, up from Rs 12.50 before GST. This increase is in response to the surge in energy costs like LPG and crude oil, which have raised operating expenses for restaurants and delivery partners, leading platforms to adjust their pricing.
The last revision of the platform fee by Zomato was in September 2025. In February, Zomato had raised the platform fee to Rs 10 per order from Rs 6 during the festive season. Meanwhile, competitor Swiggy is currently charging a platform fee of Rs 14.99 per order, inclusive of taxes. Zomato had initially introduced a platform fee of Rs 2 per order in August 2023, gradually increasing it across key markets.
This adjustment in pricing by food delivery platforms is part of their efforts to enhance unit economics and margins amidst escalating operational costs. Zomato’s parent company Eternal’s shares closed at Rs 233 on Friday, marking a 1.86% increase from the previous close and a nearly 7.5% rise for the week. However, the stock has seen a decline of about 13% over the past month. The company reported a 72.88% surge in consolidated net profit to Rs 102 crore for the December quarter (Q3 FY26), compared to Rs 59 crore in the same period last year. Revenue from operations more than tripled to Rs 16,315 crore from Rs 5,405 crore a year earlier. Eternal, formerly known as Zomato since March 2025, also witnessed a significant increase in expenses.
