The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Prasar Bharati to enhance investor awareness initiatives nationwide. Through Doordarshan, informative scroll messages will be broadcasted on national and regional channels to promote investor awareness, as announced by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Anita Shah Akella, CEO of IEPFA, emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in enhancing investor awareness and financial literacy among the public.
Trusted platforms like Doordarshan play a crucial role in disseminating information on investor protection, unclaimed dividends, shares, and safe investment practices to a broader audience, including remote and underserved areas. The strategic partnership aims to utilize Prasar Bharati’s extensive reach to communicate essential messages regarding investor awareness and the process of reclaiming unclaimed dividends and shares transferred to IEPFA.
IEPFA’s objective is to provide investors with timely and accurate information, encouraging them to make use of services like the Search Facility and submit claims through Form IEPF-5. The collaborative campaign will also highlight the importance of fraud prevention and safe investment practices to raise awareness among the public.
The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority has been overseeing the Investor Education and Protection Fund since 2016, ensuring the protection of investor interests by facilitating refunds of shares, unclaimed dividends, and matured deposits or debentures. With a focus on transparency, investor rights protection, and financial literacy promotion, IEPFA recently initiated a national drive to educate shareholders about unclaimed dividends and guide them through updating their KYC and nomination details for dividend reclamation.
