Age Rating: UA (Suitable for viewers above 12 years with parental guidance)
Genre: Biography, Drama, Thriller

Tumko Meri Kasam, directed by Vikram Bhatt, is an emotional rollercoaster that intertwines love, betrayal, and courtroom drama. Released on March 21, 2025, the film explores the life of Dr. Ajay Murdia, a visionary in fertility treatment, through two timelines. While its narrative is ambitious and filled with potential, the execution leaves room for improvement.

Plot Overview

The story revolves around Dr. Ajay Murdia (played by Ishwak Singh in his youth and Anupam Kher in the present), a fertility expert whose journey from a modest professor to the founder of a successful fertility clinic forms the backbone of the film. The narrative alternates between two timelines: one showcasing Ajay’s struggles to establish his clinic alongside his supportive wife Indira (Adah Sharma), and the other focusing on his present-day success as the head of Indira IVF.

The drama intensifies when Ajay is accused of attempting to murder Rajeev Khosla (Meherrzan B Mazda), a key employee at his company. While Ajay claims innocence and alleges that Rajeev orchestrated the attack on himself, Rajeev counters with evidence that suggests otherwise. The courtroom becomes a battleground where secrets unravel and relationships are tested.

What Works

✅ Ambitious Narrative: The dual timelines add depth to the story, showcasing Ajay’s struggles and triumphs while exploring themes like ambition, betrayal, and resilience.
✅ Strong Performances: Anupam Kher delivers a compelling portrayal of Ajay in his later years, while Ishwak Singh brings sincerity to his younger counterpart. Adah Sharma shines as Indira, adding emotional warmth to the narrative.
✅ Courtroom Drama: Despite some technical flaws, the courtroom scenes are engaging and provide moments of suspense that keep viewers invested.

What Could Have Been Better

❌ Pacing Issues: At 166 minutes, the film feels overly long and struggles to maintain momentum throughout its runtime. Some sequences could have been trimmed for a tighter narrative.
❌ Underdeveloped Characters: The motivations behind Rajeev’s animosity toward Ajay remain unclear, leaving a significant gap in the storyline’s emotional impact.
❌ Technical Limitations: The VFX is subpar and detracts from key moments in the film. Additionally, some courtroom scenes feel amateurish due to over-the-top reactions from attendees.

Performances

  • Anupam Kher as Dr. Ajay Murdia (Present-Day): Kher’s nuanced performance captures both the dignity and vulnerability of a man fighting to clear his name while protecting his legacy.
  • Ishwak Singh as Young Ajay Murdia: Singh portrays Ajay’s early struggles with sincerity and determination, making his journey relatable and inspiring.
  • Adah Sharma as Indira: Sharma adds charm and emotional depth as Ajay’s supportive wife who stands by him through thick and thin.
  • Meherrzan B Mazda as Rajeev Khosla: Mazda delivers an apt performance as the antagonist but suffers from underwritten motivations that weaken his impact.

Technical Aspects

  • Music: The songs by Prateek Walia fail to leave a lasting impression, though they do complement certain emotional moments in the film.
  • Cinematography: Naren A Gedia’s cinematography is functional but lacks visual flair that could have elevated the storytelling.
  • Editing: Kuldip Mehan’s editing feels sluggish at times, contributing to the film’s pacing issues.

Direction

Vikram Bhatt attempts to craft an emotionally rich narrative but falters in execution due to uneven pacing and technical shortcomings. While he succeeds in portraying Ajay’s journey with emotional resonance, certain plot points remain underdeveloped, leaving viewers with unanswered questions.

Final Verdict

Tumko Meri Kasam is an ambitious attempt at blending biography with courtroom drama but falls short due to pacing issues and technical limitations. Despite its flaws, strong performances by Anupam Kher, Ishwak Singh, and Adah Sharma make it an emotionally engaging watch for fans of character-driven narratives.

⭐️⭐️ (2/5 Stars)

Should You Watch It?

If you enjoy films that explore human resilience against adversity or courtroom dramas with emotional undertones, Tumko Meri Kasam offers moments worth savoring. However, be prepared for its lengthy runtime and occasional lapses in execution. For those seeking inspiration amidst drama, this film may still strike a chord!
