At least 10 individuals lost their lives, and numerous others were injured when a private sleeper bus collided with a truck in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district. The collision led to a massive fire engulfing the bus near Gorlathu village in Hiriyur taluk, causing significant challenges for rescue operations.

The bus, en route from Bengaluru to Shivamogga, caught fire immediately after the crash on National Highway-48. Emergency services were promptly mobilized following the incident, with local authorities, including Chitradurga Superintendent of Police Ranjith Kumar Bandaru and Inspector General of Police B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda, arriving at the scene to coordinate rescue efforts.

Rescue teams, fire brigade personnel, and officials worked diligently to transport the injured and deceased to nearby hospitals. With 32 passengers on board, 21 individuals are currently receiving medical treatment in Hiriyur and Chitradurga hospitals. Authorities are also verifying passenger information and searching for any missing persons.
