A 10-year-old boy from Garia, Kolkata, has been hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19. He was admitted with symptoms like fever, cough, and shortness of breath, and later diagnosed with pneumonia in his right lung. The child is currently stable and receiving medical support in isolation.
Pediatrician Saheli Dasgupta mentioned that the boy’s condition is being closely monitored, and his mother has also been isolated for testing. The doctor emphasized that while Covid-19 cases are on the rise, most infections are mild, especially among children during the monsoon season.
Doctors are vigilant about the child’s health, providing necessary care round the clock. They advised against panic, highlighting that common symptoms like fever, cough, and cold are prevalent among children during this season. In other parts of the country, fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported, with low hospitalization rates for mild infections.
Covid-19 cases are increasing in various regions, including Andhra Pradesh and Pune. In Andhra Pradesh, 12 individuals tested positive, and experts are investigating a possible new sub-variant of Omicron named “Cicada.” Similarly, Pune has seen a rise in cases, mostly with mild symptoms, prompting doctors to recommend caution and testing for symptoms like fever and respiratory issues.
Doctors also noted an uptick in influenza A and H1N1 infections during the monsoon, advising individuals with symptoms to undergo testing promptly. It is essential to stay vigilant and seek medical attention if experiencing fever, sore throat, cough, or breathing difficulties.
