Twelve Indian boxers, comprising eight women and four men, are set to vie for gold on the final day of the BOXAM Elite International 2026 tournament. In the men’s category, Sachin (60kg) continued his impressive form by securing a convincing victory against England’s Jack Dryden. Meanwhile, in the women’s division, Lovlina Borgohain (75kg), an Olympic medalist, advanced to the finals with a unanimous win over Wales’ Rosie Eccles.
The BOXAM Elite 2026 event, held in La Nucia, Alicante, Spain, has witnessed the participation of over 200 boxers from 20 nations. India leads the final day with 12 representatives, surpassing countries like Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Spain. Notably, India is guaranteed at least one gold medal, with an all-Indian face-off in the Elite Women 54kg final.
India’s female boxers displayed dominance in the semifinals, with Preeti and Poonam set to compete for the 54kg title. Additionally, Manju Rani (48kg), Nitu (51kg), Priya (60kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), and Naina (80kg) secured their spots in the finals with resounding victories, showcasing India’s strength across weight categories.
In the men’s competition, India’s Deepak (70kg), Akash (75kg), and Ankush (80kg) advanced to the finals with commanding performances. Deepak’s first-round victory over Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Mursal stood out, while Akash and Ankush overcame tough challenges against Kazakh opponents to secure their places in the gold-medal matches.
Several Indian boxers claimed bronze medals after reaching the semifinals, including Pranjal Yadav, Kajal, Sanamacha Chanu, and Mankirat Kaur in the women’s event, along with Jadumani Singh, Mohammed Hussam Uddin, and Hitesh Gulia in the men’s category.
