At least 12 individuals lost their lives, and numerous others sustained injuries in a devastating road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. The accident involved a public transport bus traveling from Ramnagar to Udhampur, resulting in heavy casualties. Immediate rescue efforts were initiated, with plans to provide medical aid and airlift the seriously injured.
Union Minister of State PMO and Lok Sabha member, Dr. Jitendra Singh, expressed his concern and stated that all possible assistance is being extended to the victims. J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha also conveyed his condolences to the affected families and directed authorities to offer comprehensive support to those impacted by the tragedy. Overloading, overspeeding, and negligent driving, compounded by poor road conditions, are cited as common factors contributing to accidents in hilly regions like Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, and Udhampur. Special traffic teams have been deployed in these areas to curb such behaviors and prevent further loss of life due to human error.
