A tragic incident occurred in Madras Chawl, Azad Nagar, Brahmand, Maharashtra, where a 12-year-old boy lost his life when a section of a neighboring building collapsed on their house. The incident, which happened around 3:35 p.m. on Friday, also left two family members injured. The collapsed building, estimated to be 25 to 30 years old, saw a part of its gallery suddenly give way and fall onto the family’s residence.
The deceased, identified as 12-year-old Jaykumar Jaiswal, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Civil Hospital. Two other family members, Urmila Jaiswal, 35, and Vinit Jaiswal, 9, sustained head injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Titan Hospital in Manpada. Their conditions are being closely monitored by medical staff.
In response to the collapse, authorities evacuated three neighboring houses in Madras Chawl as a precautionary measure. The Majiwada Ward Committee, Public Works Department (PWD), and Encroachment Department are conducting structural inspections and debris-clearing operations to ensure the safety of nearby structures. Emergency teams, including fire engines and rescue vehicles, secured the area and continued search and clearance efforts.
This incident follows a recent fatal house collapse in Mumbai, where six people lost their lives due to a neighboring structure collapsing onto their home. The victims, from the family of Akhtar Jahan and her husband, had planned to relocate due to concerns over the deteriorating building. Unfortunately, the collapse occurred before they could move, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.
