A 12-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh, son of farmer Suresh Yadav, has regained normal urinary function after a rare and complex genital reconstructive surgery at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. The boy suffered severe injuries to his external genital organs as an infant in a dog attack. These injuries led to long-term difficulties in urination and affected the development of his genital organs.
After unsuccessful treatments at various hospitals, the family sought specialized care at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Upon admission on May 1, doctors discovered that the boy had missing testes, a retracted penis, and a narrow urinary opening. Despite the challenging condition, a team led by Dr. Rakesh Joshi and Professor Dr. Jayshree Ramji successfully performed a complex reconstructive surgery on May 6 to address the congenital and injury-related issues.
Following the surgery, the boy was closely monitored for 14 days and was able to pass urine normally and without pain after the removal of the urinary catheter. The successful outcome of the surgery was praised by the State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya, highlighting the advanced and free medical care available at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. The hospital is known for handling complex surgical cases and attracting patients from across India for specialized treatments.
