Thirteen people lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries when an overloaded passenger van collided with a semi-trailer truck on a Henan Province expressway in central China. The tragic incident occurred early Thursday morning in Nanyang City. The passenger van, designed for nine occupants, was carrying 16 individuals at the time of the accident, as per reports from Xinhua news agency.
Following the collision, the Ministry of Public Security has dispatched a team to Nanyang to oversee the investigation and response operations. Meanwhile, in Shanxi Province, a coal mine accident resulted in the deaths of 82 individuals, with nine more individuals still missing, according to the county’s emergency management bureau. The fatal incident took place at the Liushenyu coal mine in Qinyuan County, where a total of 123 people were hospitalized for injuries, including some in critical and serious conditions.
In response to the coal mine tragedy, the province mobilized 755 personnel, comprising rescuers and medical staff, to the accident site. Additionally, the bureau has taken legal action against the individuals accountable for the company linked to the mine accident. In a separate incident earlier this month in Hunan Province, a fireworks plant explosion led to approximately two dozen fatalities and 61 injuries. The explosion, which occurred at the Huasheng fireworks manufacturing and display company in Liuyang, prompted the deployment of over 480 rescuers and three rescue robots to the scene.
