At least 14 individuals lost their lives, and 33 others sustained injuries in a devastating road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. The accident occurred when a bus traveling from Ramnagar to Udhampur town met with the tragic incident. Some of the injured have been taken to the government medical college (GMC) hospital in Udhampur, while others are receiving treatment in Ramnagar.

Authorities are currently focused on rescuing the injured and ensuring they receive necessary medical assistance. The cause of the accident is under investigation, with officials stating that the bus overturned in the incident. More details are awaited as the investigation progresses.

Union Minister of State (MoS) PMO and Lok Sabha member from Kathua-Udhampur seat, Dr Jitendra Singh, expressed his concern and mentioned that immediate rescue operations were initiated. He highlighted the provision of all possible assistance to the affected individuals, including arrangements for airlifting the seriously injured. The Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, expressed his condolences to the affected families and directed various departments to extend all possible support to those impacted by the tragic accident.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also conveyed her sadness over the incident, offering condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing a swift recovery to the injured.
