As the popular movie “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” marks its 15th anniversary in Bollywood, Shankar Mahadevan, the music composer-singer, reminisces about the making of the hit song ‘Senorita’. Originally intended as a situational track, ‘Senorita’ evolved into a potential chart-topper during the creative process. Mahadevan, along with Ehsaan and Loy, recognized the song’s appeal and worked meticulously on its melodic hooks.
The decision to have the film’s stars Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, and Abhay Deol lend their voices to the song was a strategic move. While Farhan and Hrithik’s singing abilities were known, Abhay Deol, initially hesitant and inexperienced, was gently persuaded by Mahadevan to give it a try. Deol, unaware that his rehearsal was the final take, was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.
“Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,” released in 2011 and directed by Zoya Akhtar, features a stellar cast including Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif, and Kalki Koechlin. The film revolves around the journey of three friends on a road trip in Spain, adding a touch of adventure and camaraderie to the storyline.
