At least 16 people lost their lives, and seven others were injured in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when a passenger coach en route to Swat crashed into a parked bus in the Khoro Kotay Saeedabad area. The collision occurred due to a mechanical fault in the coach, as per the police. Rescue teams, including motorway police and local residents, promptly responded, transferring the injured and deceased to the hospital.
The victims, primarily from Dir and Bajaur, were traveling home for Eid holidays, as per hospital and rescue officials. The deceased and injured individuals have not yet been identified. In a separate incident on May 10, five individuals died and ten were injured in Swat’s Charbagh tehsil when a passenger van plunged into a ravine, according to rescue reports.
Following the accident, medical teams and ambulances reached the scene, with five fatalities reported on-site and ten injuries. The victims, a family en route from Adu to Ganajir for a wedding, were involved in the accident due to brake failure. In other recent incidents, nine people were injured in a Peshawar van accident, and three lost their lives with 26 injured in a bus overturn near Nankana in Punjab.
On March 31, a tragic incident occurred when a motorway police inspector, aiding after a traffic accident, was fatally struck by a truck near the Hazara Motorway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
