A 17-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district was attacked with an axe by a youth who had been stalking and harassing her. The incident occurred in her house, where the assailant then threw her off the roof, resulting in her fighting for her life in a Gwalior hospital. The police have apprehended the accused following the attack.
The victim’s mother recounted that the girl was alone at home when the boy entered and began harassing her. Subsequently, she sought refuge on the terrace, but the boy pursued her, pulling her hair and assaulting her with the axe. Local witnesses intervened as the accused threatened them when they tried to assist the victim.
According to the victim’s mother, the accused had a history of stalking and harassing the teenager despite attempts to reason with him. The victim’s father revealed that the attack was triggered by the girl rejecting the advances of the accused. Following the incident, the accused attempted to flee but was captured by the victim’s relative.
The father mentioned that the police have arrested the accused and three of his family members. In support of the victim’s family, local resident Rahul demanded compensation of Rs. 40 lakh and a government job from the Chief Minister. He also called for strict action against the accused and his family. Expressing concerns about the victim’s treatment, he urged the government to transfer her to a private hospital for better care.
Dr. Aditya Tiwari, the ICU In-charge at the Trauma Centre where the victim is being treated, stated that the girl sustained critical injuries due to a previous enmity. Despite her stable but critical condition with fractures in her jaw and hip, the medical team remains optimistic about her recovery.
