Eighteen Amarnath Yatris were injured in a road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in J&K’s Ramban district. The incident involved a collision between two SRTC buses, a car, and a private bus in the Pahalgam-bound convoy at Langar Point, Chanderkote in Ramban.
The accident was caused by a collision between two SRTC buses, with one bus then hitting a car, which in turn collided with a private bus. All 18 injured yatris were promptly taken to District Hospital Ramban for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were minor, and they are reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have identified ten of the injured individuals, while the remaining eight are yet to be named. Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway faced temporary disruptions due to the accident. Police are investigating the incident further to determine the exact cause.
The ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026, which began on July 3, will end on August 28 after 57 days, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals. Since the start of this year’s Yatra, over 2.45 lakh pilgrims have visited the holy cave shrine located at an altitude of 3,880 meters in the Kashmir Himalayas.
