At least 18 Baloch individuals have reportedly been forcibly disappeared in Balochistan over the past two weeks. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) revealed that 11 people were taken from Kech’s Hothabad and 7 from Gwadar’s Panwan Jiwani. These disappearances were allegedly carried out through home raids and targeted operations, indicating a systematic punishment against the Baloch community.
The BYC claimed that security forces conducted coordinated raids resulting in the disappearance of 18 Baloch civilians. The victims, including individuals from various professions, were taken from their homes in Hothabad, Kech. While some have been released, nine individuals remain in illegal custody with no information on their whereabouts.
In Gwadar’s Panwan Jiwani area, security forces reportedly intensified oppression targeting the local fishing community. Seven fishermen were allegedly forcibly disappeared, accompanied by violent home raids and property destruction. These actions have instilled fear among communities, with the victims being ordinary civilians targeted solely based on their Baloch identity.
The BYC has called for the immediate and safe release of all disappeared individuals, urging national and international human rights organizations, the United Nations, and the global community to intervene and ensure accountability for these grave human rights violations.
