In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a 19-year-old youth reportedly shot his father dead, dismembered the body, and hid parts in a blue drum at their home. The victim, Manvendra Singh, a 49-year-old pathology lab owner, was killed after a dispute with his son over the son’s future career. The incident stemmed from tensions between them regarding the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Local residents mentioned that the accused, Akshat Pratap Singh, filed a missing person complaint for his father on February 20. When no progress was made, neighbors pressured the police, leading to a more thorough investigation. The crime occurred around 4.30 a.m. on February 20 following an argument between the father and son. In a fit of rage, Akshat used a licensed rifle to shoot his father.
After the shooting, Akshat moved the body to the ground floor, dismembered it, and disposed of some parts in Sadrauna. The head was also dumped at the same location, but it has not been found yet. When attempting to dispose of the torso, Akshat was stopped by police due to suspicious behavior. He later confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the torso and other remains.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikrant Veer stated that the accused admitted to the crime and further investigation is ongoing. Akshat revealed that he killed his father due to pressure to excel in the NEET exam and pursue a medical career. The father wanted his son to focus on competitive exams and a medical career, leading to frequent disagreements between them.
Police found a ricocheted bullet in the room where the shooting occurred, which has been sent for forensic analysis. Akshat, who managed a liquor store owned by his father, was reportedly dissatisfied despite receiving a monthly salary. Forensic teams are examining bloodstains in the car and house, while efforts continue to locate the missing body parts and reconstruct the sequence of events.
