As of December, over 2.94 crore women belonging to self-help groups in rural areas have received training on financial inclusion, including banking services, in the first nine months of FY 2025-26. The National Livelihood Mission has been actively conducting Financial Literacy initiatives through trained Financial Literacy Community Resource Persons to raise awareness about financial products and services in rural regions.
In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah disclosed that 56,727 women from self-help groups have been trained and appointed as Financial Literacy Community Resource Persons nationwide. These individuals organize regular training sessions and awareness programs at the community level to educate on various aspects of financial inclusion, such as banking services, savings, credit, digital financial transactions, insurance, and pensions.
The engagement of these Financial Literacy Community Resource Persons aims to enhance financial behavior, facilitate access to formal financial services, and promote informed decision-making at the household level. The National Cooperation Policy 2025 underscores the importance of women’s inclusive participation in cooperatives, focusing on empowering them through legal status, supportive policies, digitalization, financial access, and sectoral expansion.
