Foreign Ministers and officials from 20 countries are set to attend the India-Arab Foreign Ministers meeting and 4th India-Arab Senior Officials Meeting 2026 this week, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs. Delegates will begin arriving in India from Thursday, with representatives from nations including Palestine, Sudan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia among others. India has a longstanding relationship with the Arab League, rooted in historical trade, cultural connections, and shared interests.
The Arab League, established in 1945 with seven members, now comprises 22 countries from North Africa and the Middle East. India’s engagement with the Arab League nations reflects its commitment to the region, driven by shared economic interests, strategic partnerships, and historical ties. The trade between India and Arab nations has remained resilient, surpassing USD 240 billion, with significant contributions to India’s oil imports and other key sectors.
India’s trade relations with the Arab world have endured challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and global conflicts, showcasing the strength and resilience of the partnership. The collaboration spans diverse sectors such as energy, finance, healthcare, technology, and infrastructure, with Indian diaspora in the Arab League countries playing a crucial role in the region’s development and prosperity.
